Mobile user interface techniques: Scaling
This text is replaced by the Flash movie.
Scaling is a mobile user interface technique that allows you to use your small real estate to display several objects and then to push the focus to one of them by selecting it and then zooming it forward so that it fills the screen. Used often in DVDs and other interactive mediums, this technique is particularly well suited to giving the mobile user an overall context and then allowing them to branch through the experience by emphasizing their chosen element. Users can always return to the overview of all the elements or they can continue down the branch they have chosen to its completion. This is a technique that is extremely useful when you want to display rich visual data applications.
