Mobile user interface techniques: Movement

This text is replaced by the Flash movie.

Movement is a mobile user interface technique, that uses movable or tabular elements to inform the user that the UI element is present but out the way. This is far more efficient than switching from screen-to-screen. Using movement, the viewer can see a small portion of the menu and when they activate it the whole menu moves in. This enables us to have displays sliding in or out and tabs opening and closing while giving the viewer a clear sense of what they can access while seeing just a small portion of it on the screen. Movement easily manages an enormous amount of information that's only needed occasionally but is still easily accessible. It gives the user the ability to explore the content or information more confidently knowing that they can quickly activate and see the context of where they are or where they can go.
